You awaken to a reality where the company's leadership structure has disappeared. In response, the company and board, in a bid to find direction, appoint you as the sole decider - a product dictator. Starting Monday, you have absolute authority to shape the company's future, tasked with making swift and decisive moves to ensure its survival and success.


Your Role and Powers

As this omnipotent leader, you possess the power to implement or abolish any initiatives, restructure teams, and hire or fire at will. Your decisions are final, executed without question, although you can seek advice if you choose.


The First 5 Steps of a Product Dictator

Think like a product manager when you come up with your ideas, use the first 10 minutes to think through the following using these steps:


  1. Rapid Assessment and Prioritization: Immediately conduct a comprehensive review of the company's current projects, products, and initiatives. Prioritize those with the highest impact on revenue and customer satisfaction, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently to secure the company's financial health.

  2. Streamline Communication Channels: Implement a streamlined communication system to facilitate swift decision-making and information flow. This might involve setting up a direct reporting structure or adopting new tools for better transparency and faster responses.

  3. Focus on Customer-Centric Products and Services: Reevaluate the product lineup with a sharp focus on customer needs and market demands. As a dictator, swiftly cut off projects that don't align with these priorities and double down on those that promise the most value to your customer base.
